I have been proud for many years now to live in a community where people cared for each other, but I see none of this in the treatment of Mr. Brown in the public forum. Shame on us.
It will take some care to extract all of us from this quagmire with any decency at all, but at least let us act with care for differences of opinion, keep editorial opinion on the editorial page and work with all the facts that we can discover.
