Like her house, her studio has artistic pieces surrounding all who enter, along with wrapped pieces of tree trunks waiting their turn for Drevas to discover a way to preserve their natural beauty in a creative way.
Drevas said that one of the themes in her work is “honoring what’s about to be lost. “My fascination is to somehow preserve them.”
Three of her pieces are at the Long View Gallery in Sperryville. Her most recent piece is included and she said it shows her progressing to a looser form. “It’s basically the shape of the tree but I added a little bit with weaving,” she said.
Drevas mentioned she was on her way out to put up flyers about her workshop and then look at pine trees that might provide more bark for her and her classes. She smiled and said^ “This is my passion.” j
