Congressman Eric Cantor's Community Outreach Director Barbara Taylor will be at the Rappahannock County Library on Thursday. June 12 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to speak with constituents who need assistance or have problems of a federal nature. Citizens are also welcome to express their opinions on issues before Congress.
‘Child Find' on Ju ne 6
The Rappahannock County Public Schools will conduct a “Child Find" on Friday. June 6 at the Rappahannock County Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will correspond with DARE Field Day activities. Parents with questions about a child's development are encouraged to bring the child. A group of specialists will talk with parents. Headwaters to meet
The June board of directors meeting for Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, will take place on Monday. June 9 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County extension office. The meeting is open to the public.
Student authors wanted
Students will have an opportunity in the upcoming Summer Reading 2003 program at the Rappahannock County Library to become a published author of a 16-page hardback book and learn how to layout a book, compose text and prepare illustrations. The program is for sixth through twelfth grade students. Registration and orientation is on June 5 and 6 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and June 9 from 6:30-7:30 p/m. A non-refundable fee of $1.95 is due at registration.
Nature study day camp
The Rappahannock Nature Camp for children 8 to 12 years old will be held June 30-July 11. Hiking, exploring, producing a newspaper and an overnight campout are included. Call Lyt Wood at 675-1088.
Fireman’s carnival
An old-fashioned country carnival will be held June 11 - 14 on the grounds of the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The parade is on Friday. June 13. There will be fun for the whole family: carnival rides, barbecue, cotton candy, candied apples and other goodies. Free admission. For more information call 675-3286.
