From the very first day of class, Mrs. Bruce made it clear that you were in her class to learn and that she was in enlarge. She was there to be your teacher, not your pal. If you fell behind, you were doomed to failure. There was homework every night and frequent testing. There was never a discipline problem.
Mrs. Bruce taught the classics, and she was a classic. Furthermore, she was a very classy lady. I know that my brother, Wayne Eastham of Warrenton, another of Mrs. Bruce’s students and fans, joins me in my praise of one of Rappahannock County’s finest citizens.
