An opportunity to meet a queen is something thrilling and very special for anyone, especially to greet such a wellknown and widely respected royal personage as Queen Noor.
Standing in the long line to meet the queen, one might have recalled the epic poet Rudyard Kipling’s great lines that “If you can . . . walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch . . .”
But in this case it was the queen, bom an American, who had not lost the common touch. Although there certainly was protocol to be respected, it should be quickly noted that Her Majesty was warm and charming beyond expectations.
Despite sitting at a small desk in the “Jewelry Room” of the iiin’s shops signing books for several hours, the queen had a ready and genuine smile for everyone who presented their books for her signature.
And some guests brought a handful to the queen’s desk for her to sign. She often asked for
