To celebrate the beginning of the winter sky-gazing season, Hearthstone School will hold an astronomy evening on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the school at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome. The speaker is Francois-Marie Patomi, an amateur astronomer from Rappahannock County.
Called “An Evening under Rappahannock Skies: Viewing the Moon, the Rings of Saturn Mars and the Stars,” the event will start indoors with a presentation and discussion supported by visual aids, posters, displays and games about the moon, the planets and the universe.
If the sky is clear, attendees will go outdoors and look at the sky through telescopes and giant binoculars. There will be hands-on help to find
