yuou umiy. moibiure is uie enemy, especially during freeze-thaw cycles where warm moist air leaves a watery film on cold metal parts. As such, remove everything from the trunk that traps moisture, such as carpet and mats. If you can, leave the trunk and side windows partly open to ‘breathe’. Condensation can even build inside the engine, so avoid the temptation to fire 'er up, unless you intend to bring it up to operating temperature. A tough, cold, midwinter start merely dumps a lot of raw fuel into the engine, which slides past the pistons and into the engine oil. Therefore, one of your first orders of business in the spring is to change the oil and fitter. Of course, dry heated storage is probably looking pretty good right about now and, if you can find it and afford it, is the only way to go.
