Author James D. Russell of Sperryville will sign and discuss his new book, "Beyond the Rim: From Slavery to Redemption in Rappahannock County. Virginia'1 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at the Old Sperryville Bookshop on Main Street in Sperryville. The event was rescheduled from Dec. 5 due to bad weather. The book chronicles the life of Russell's great-grandmother, Caroline Terry, who was a slave on a Rappahannock County plantation. Colonial Christmas dinner
The Washington Baptist Church has rescheduled its fourth annual Colonial Candlelight Dinner for Saturday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. at its Fellowship Hall on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington. Tickets are on sale, either in advance or at the door. Contact the church office at 675-3336 for further information.
Calling all Democrats
Postponed from last weekend: All Rappahannock County Democrats are invited to the biennial reorganization of the local Democratic committee and a Celebration Breakfast on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Washington Town Hall in Washington. Doors open at 8 a.m. for breakfast and close promptly at 9:30 a.m. for the start of the Reorganization Caucus. There is no charge for attending the caucus or breakfast.
