You should not have a flu shot if you have had a severe reaction to a flu vaccine in the past.
Officials do recommend flu shots especially for those people at most risk for getting the flu. They include:
• Anyone who is 50 years of age and older.
• Children between the ages of six months and 23 months old.
• Nursing home residents.
• Women who are more than three months pregnant.
• People with chronic medical conditions (chronic meaning ongoing diseases such as diabetes or COPD).
