Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy will brief the Board of Supervisors on the dam removal Monday. He said in an interview that the power companies had easements on both sides of the river that now may be converted into public lands increasing fishing and boating opportunities along the banks above Fredericksburg.
Though some of the spawning fish are not everyone’s taste to eat, McCarthy said, they are great game fish and should revive sports fishing in this area. The spawning season begins next month.
