Virginia’s 4 p.m. Burning Law went into effect on Feb. 15. The law comes into effect each spring to help reduce the number of wildfires caused by debris burning, the Commonwealth’s leading cause of all wildfires.
The law states: No burning before 4 p.m. Feb. 15 through April 30 of each year, if the fire is in or within 300 feet of woodland, brushland or fields containing dry grass or other flammable material.
