March hikes
The Ragged Mountain Resource Center is sponsoring three hikes: Saturday, March 6, a Moonlight Hike of Old Rag Mountain. Meet at upper parking lot for Old Rag on Nethers’ side by 6 p.m. Bring layerable clothing and nourishment for self and consider a back up light source and in-step cleats or crampons. If planning to camp, come earlier to set up; Saturday, March 13, a “Second Saturday Series” hike to Big Devil’s Stairs via Harris Hollow Trail. Meet at Mountainside Market on Route 522 west of Sperryville by 9 a.m. Bring nourishment for self and layerable clothing; Saturday, March 20, a “Rugged Hike-Run Series" adventure which is an intense workout, including Sam's Ridge Trail, Hazel Mountain Trail, Hannah Run Trail, Hot-Short Mountain Trail, White Rocks Trail and Hazel River Trail figure 8 loop. Ki Theatre auditions
Ki Theatre will hold open auditions on March 7 and 14 from 2-4 p.m. for roles in the June production of “Stories on Stage.” Directors Betsy Toth and Patty Hardee welcome everyone interested in trying out for a part in the cast for the June 19 and 20 performances. Good Citizens' Award
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will hold its annual Awards Tea for the presentation of the Good Citizens Award to deserving students from area high schools. The tea will be held at the Rappahannock County Library on Tuesday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m.
Casino Night March 13
The Rappahannock County School Sports Association will sponsor the fourth Annual Casino Night at the Washington School on March 13 at 7 p.m. Admission is $30 per person and includes $10,000 of gaming money to use to play roulette, black jack, craps, etc. At the end of the evening, chips will be exchanged for raffle tickets for drawings for grand prizes donated by local supporters. Admission also includes hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks, with a cash bar available. Call Cathy Kreyling at 987-8131 to purchase tickets or get them at the RCHS concession stand at home games.
