Republicans to meet

A whole lot of shaking. . . ’

If it looks as if the walls of the Fire Company in Amissville are shaking this coming Saturday night, Feb. 28, well, that just may be the case. Indeed, the whole place will be shaking with the happy sounds of “Southern Action,” a local band that specializes in country and southern rock. Bandleader Fred Wilson is on the rhythm guitar, and does some of the singing. Terry Pace plays lead guitar. John Wallace is on the bass and James Helmich, the drummer, also does some of the vocals. Downbeat is at 9 p.m. at the Amissville Fire and Rescue Company on Route 211.

Stained glass windows

Spend a Saturday afternoon learning how to make a leaded stained glass window. A beginner class, all supplies included, will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call De’Danann Glassworks for more information at (540) 987-8615.

Grief support group

Hospice of the Rapidan offers free bereavement support groups to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. The discussion group will meet Tuesday afternoons for six weeks, beginning March 2 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Hospice office's Community Room in Culpeper. The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local branch of the Fauquier Free Clinic operates on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month at the Rappahannock County Health Department in Washington.
