adjustment. But, to date, they have not done so and should exhaust this avenue before asking for the General Assembly to pass new legislation.
Fortunately, there have been members in both houses of the General Assembly who share our concern and have been willing to let a debate about the merits of this legislation continue before they cast their votes. All Virginians should take this opportunity to express their opinions. But a 60-day legislative session is not long enough to consider all of the consequences that even moderate deregulation could cause.
If the legislature is serious about creating competition in all corners of Virginia, it needs to move in a thoughtful and deliberative manner that includes all affected parties.
