Despite enthusiasm from founders and authors, Moms In Print will publish “Misadventures of Moms” with private funding.
“Just to get us off the ground, Tara and I are paying to publish this first book ourselves,” said Thompson.
But the plan is for Moms In Print to be funded eventually through sponsorship from companies that want advertising or people who believe in its mission.
“We don’t want the authors to pay a cent,” said Thompson.
Paterson and Thompson are optimistic that the company will attract funding just like it has attracted manuscripts.
The pair has already accepted a second manuscript, “My Family chose Me!” by Shelly Melville Anderson, a story of trans-racial adoption as told through the eyes of a child.
They are going to continue accepting manuscripts with the promise of a 25 percent royalty.
“As people become more and more aware of what we are trying to do, the funds will come in,” said Paterson.
