Marine Lance Corporal Brian Lee Jr., 21, of Castleton, a member of the Rappahannock High School class of 2002, was deployed to Iraq on March 2 and will be there seven months. “He called the other day from Kuwait where they are being acclimated to the weather,” said his mother, Annie. “He is going to be looking for the weapons of mass destruction.”
• Major Jonathan Watson, 35, a C-130 pilot, has flown in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He is now flying out of Qatar a Persian Gulf kingdom, but will deploy to Iraq again in July for a 90-day tour. A flag that Watson flew on his plane over Iraq was presented to the School Board on Tuesday. Watson is a 1987 graduate of Rappahannock High School and his parents, Holly and Dianne Pendleton both work for the school system.
• Marine Cpl. Frank Paratore, 21, a 2000 graduate of Rappahannock High School, has been serving in Baghdad since 2003 with the U.S. Marine Fleet Anti-terrorist Security team. The young Paratore dropped out of George Mason University for the “challenge” of the Marines, his mother Mel Paratore said. His mother is with the School Board and his father Paul is a teacher in Fairfax County.
