As they searched, they called out the man’s name over and over. Finally just before 11:30 p.m., they got a weak answer some 50 yards off the trail. There he was.
“He had been out there six hours and he had stopped shivering which means hypothermia was setting in,” said Jordan. With the help of the Sperryville Rescue Squad, they got the man wrapped and treated for hypothermia as they rushed him to the hospital.
“It was lucky, if not miraculous that he was still responsive. If he had not been able to answer us, we might not have found him until it was too late,” Jordan said.
