Sufi Spring Social
A drumming and Sufi Spring Social will be held at the Belle Meade Retreat Center on Sunday, March 14 on Route 231, seven miles south of Sperryville. Drumming starts at 3 p.m; sufi dancing 4 p.m. Bring snacks, tea. For more information, contact Susan Hoffman at 540-9879748.
Civil War talk
The Blue Ridge Civil War Roundtable will have its monthly get together at the Rappahannock County Library on Tuesday, March 16 with Art Candenquist speaking on “Dahlgren’s Raid." There is a social time at 7 p.m. and the program starts at 7:30 p.m. Those interested in the Civil War are invited.
Garden Club to meet
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will hold a meeting on March 17 at the Washington Fire House. Refreshments will be served at 1 p.m. prior to the 1:30 p.m. meeting. Hostesses are Joanne Tepper, Maggie Francis and Celine Siira. The program will be “Gardens of Ireland” presented by Dr. Eileen Laing in recognition of Saint Patrick’s Day. Plans are being made for Nature Camp attendance and college scholarships to be given at graduation in June.
Free Clinic open
The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local branch of the Fauquier Free Clinic operates on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month at the Rappahannock County Health Department in Washington. ‘Relay for Life ’
Team captains are needed for this year’s community fund-raiser, “Relay for Life,” which raises funds to help fight cancer. A meeting of team captains, and those interested in being one, will be held on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church. For more information, call Ben Atkins, 635-2377.
Amissville dance
The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company is having a dance on March 20, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the fire station. The music is provided by the Southern Rain band from Fredericksburg. Persons must be 21 years of age to attend.
