The Rappahannock ski area’s snowless Alpine slide moved a step closer to construction last Wednesday as the planning commission voted unanimous approval to the site development plan for the 300-acre Harris Hollow tract. The planners also unanimously approved the concept of Rapp Ski Limited’s long range proposals which include new maintenance and ski rental shops, lifts and ski trails. “From what I feel was the potential up there (at the Harris Hollow site), we’ll be extremely fortunate if that’s what occurs,” commented planner Newbill Miller in reference to the five-year proposal. The campaign for Commonwealth Attorney got underway last Thursday evening as candidates Peter Luke and Douglas Baumgardner spoke at the county Republican Party’s mass meeting in the courthouse.
