Mother’s Day Horse Show
The Bleu Rock Inn in Washington is hosting a Short Circuit Horse Show on May 9. Classes offered include pleasure, hunters, and equitation for junior and adult riders. The show is being judged by Jeanne Blackwell of The Plains. Food service is by Hogwild BBQ of Warrenton. Headwaters’ meeting
The monthly board of directors meeting for Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, will take place Monday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County extension office. The meeting is open to the public.
DAR meeting
The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will meet May 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Culpeper Minute Men Monument. Mrs. George Bryson will lead the visit to the site.
Services board to meet

Cheerleading meeting

Congressman Eric Cantor’s Community Outreach Director Barbara Taylor will be available at the Rappahannock County Library Thursday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to speak with constituents who need assistance or have problems of a federal nature. Dog Day Afternoon ’
The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will hold its fourth annual Dog Day Afternoon with fun for families and their dogs on Saturday, May 15 from noon to 5 p.m. at Windrush, three and one-fourth miles from Route 647, on the left side of Route 637 (North Poes Road). Breakfast for senior center
A breakfast to benefit the Rappahannock Senior Center will be held Saturday, May 15, from 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Flint Hill Fire Hall. The menu is biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs, ham, donuts, breakfast casseroles, fruit, coffee and juice. There will be gospel singing by the Rutherfords. (Strictly donation basis).
Hearthstone auction
Hearthstone School’s annual fund-raising auction is Saturday, May 15 from 3-5 p.m., featuring a silent auction, a pie and cake auction, and a live auction at 4 p.m. Admission is free. Auction items include a limited edition print by Nathan Kuhn and a framed abstract painting by his father, the late Robert E. Kuhn; artwork by Jeanne Drevas, Jill Waller, Monica Newell, Eric Kvarnes, Peggy Shadier; canoe trips, music lessons and dinner with a financial adviser at Ashby Inn. Greenhouse workshop
A two-day workshop on “Get Growin’ in the Greenhouse Business” is offered by Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Flower Growers Association Tuesday and Wednesday, May 18-19 at Lord Fairfax Community College, Warrenton.
