THOUGHTS ON
AFTERLIFE
We live in a diverse culture in which closely held beliefs are far ranging. Thus, it may be of some interest to learn what Americans believe to be true about what happens to them after they die. According to a recent survey, 81 percent of adults indicated that they believe in some sort of afterlife, while another 9 percent thought (believed?) that it was a possibility. Fully 85% said that they believe in heaven, and 64 percent thought that they would go there. On the other hand, 74 percent of the respondents indicated that they believed in hell, while just one half of one percent thought they would end up there. Twenty-four percent have no idea where they would spend eternity.
