Sperryville man
faces felony
charges in
April incident

A 29-year-old Sperryville man faces four charges, including two felonies, following a 911 call from a residence on Harris Hollow Road on April 19.
Timothy A. Coravos, who lives on New Moon Road off Route 231 near Nethers, was charged with possession of marijuana, drunk in public, and two felonies: damaging a police vehicle in the amount of $1,000 or more and assaulting a police officer.
At 10:43 p.m., the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 hang-up call. When the dispatcher called back the number, there was no response. Deputy Robert Fincham and Sgt. Chuck Moore immediately responded to a home on Harris Hollow Road as is customary to check out 911 hang ups, authorities said.
Arriving at the residence, police encountered Coravos who was arrested for being drunk in public.
While being transported away in a Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser, Coravos became “very agitated” when he learned he was going to jail, authorities said, and he “did some damage to the cruiser and himself.”
“He was a handful,” said Sheriff Larry Sherertz. “He kicked out the right rear window with his feet and his head.”
He also hit his head against the protective screen dividing the front and back seats, said Sherertz.
