The newest place to eat in Warrenton has a wood-burning pizza oven. It has a large salad bar with two different homemade soups a day. It serves fried chicken, subs, Mongolian barbecue, kebabs, made-to-order pasta, and the breads and pastries are made fresh on the premises every day.
And, oh by the way, it’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Can’t guess what place possible could combine all those qualities? It’s called the Bistro on the Hill, and it’s located inside the new wing of the Fauquier Hospital.
Into the future
“This is a big, big adjustment for our staff,” said Jane Burdick, the hospital’s director of nutrition and food services. “We truly went from a 19508style hospital cafeteria to a state-of-the-art facility. It’s a total 180-degree turn.
“Now we’re in the 21st century, and we’re ahead of the game.”
Staring at the small tables and the wood flooring, highlighted by the many large windows that let light into the room, it is difficult to believe that one is eating inside a hospital. This is unlike any hospital eatery seen in these parts.
