THE POWER OF
PRAYER
Cardiologist Randolph Byrd once investigated the power of prayer by asking ordinary people who prayed regularly to pray for a sick person with heart disease. Conducted under the strictest conditions, this study utilized a double-blind system in which patients were chosen at random. Neither the patients nor 'the doctors and nurses knew which patient was prayed for or not. Each of the prayed-for patients had five to six people praying for him/her. At the study’s end, the group for whom prayers were said needed only one-fifth the amount of antibiotics, suffered three times less frequently from lung edema, and never needed to be put on a respirator. There were also fewer deaths in the “prayer” group than the control group.
This famous study confirmed what many knew: faith in something larger has a direct impact on one’s health. At the MOSER FUNERAL HOME, we respect the different values and expressions within all faiths and denominations. Call 347-3431 (233 Broadview Ave, Warrenton, VA.) 24-hours a day.
