“I had the pleasure also of spending some time at the reunion with Bayliss Whorton. He talked about his early school years at the old Massanova School. He remarked how the teacher, Mary Bruce, would ride her horse from Arron Mountain to the school. Massanova school was located just down and across the road from Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Payne’s property about two miles north of Route 618 and Route 729. I will also research this in the future.
