Susie MacNelly of Flint Hill is a survivor. After the deaths of seven family members within five years, including her husband, Jeff MacNelly in 2000, Susie continues to laugh through life.
Her business card identifies her as “Field Marshall.” But a more appropriate title may be “Chief Laugh-OMeter” in charge of the Treetops Tattler-Tribune.
Jeff MacNelly was a political cartoonist, winner of three Pulitzer Prizes, and the creator of the cartoon strip “Shoe.” The strip’s characters include Professor Cosmo Fishhawk (aka Jeff), who is a writer for the Treetops Tattler-Tribune; Cosmo’s boss P. Martin Shoemaker, hence the name “Shoe;” and Roz, a bartender at a bar where Cosmo spends a significant amount of time.
