Service does not wish anybody to believe that they are seeking parking for only 125 vehicles. In a legal document they published when they selected a specific parking alternative, they stated that as long as the leased lot is used for overflow it would be reduced in size so that the total parking capacity would be approximately 250 vehicles. Thus, an increase in traffic is not expected.
The only development that will take place on the PATC tract is a nicely landscaped parking lot, a connector trail to get foot traffic off of a narrow, winding road, which currently takes hikers by many private residences, and a small visitor contact station. This is the “gateway experience” the NPS and PATC propose for visitors coming to this national park.
