The mood in the room was altogether collegial, helpful, and positive, and was marked on one side by the sensible gravity with which the supervisors view their fiduciary duties on behalf of their districts and on the other side by the sincere, even heartfelt, needs of school officials on behalf of their students.
Leaving the issue of the upgraded high school track aside, supervisors voiced support for other items on the list.
Supervisor Bob Anderson, who arrived at the meeting late with the apology that “animals don’t always stay where you put 'em,” spoke for others besides himself when he said, “We can’t get a better interest rate than now. You never can get everything you want. <But) children are our future. They are. We have to get our ducks in a row,” which may or may not have been an unconscious reference to the reason why he was tardy.
