“And the bid goes to number. . was auctioneer Bill Payne’s call at the annual Rappahannock Lions Club auction on May 1.
Some 112 bidders, mostly residents of the county, braved rain and mud to acquire all of the items that were contributed by the community.
In addition to lawn equipment, a pool table, exercise and other large items, and an automobile and a pickup truck, which were outside in the elements, most of the items were under roof of the Payne’s Auction Bam.
With refreshments in hand that included beef burgers donated by Sunnyside Farms, the bidders raised their bid cards on their selected items that came from residents, business establishments and entrepreneurs.
