The Rappahannock County School Board held its first meeting last Tuesday night since classes started for the 2004-2005 school year.
Chairman John Wesley Mills began the meeting with a thank you to the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors for its Sept. 8 decision to pass the school bond.
“We’d like to thank the supervisors for their unanimous support and for their support of the children of this county,” Mills said.
The board paused several times throughout the evening to repeat the sentiment.
The $4 million bond is the largest school construction project for the Rappahannock schools in two decades. Included in the plan are an auxiliary gym, air conditioning for parts of the elementary school, a running track at the high school, and other improvements. Construction could begin as early as 2005.
