Public hearing
The Commonwealth Transportation Board <CTB) will" hold a public hearing Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. at the VDOT Auditorium in Culpeper to receive public comments on the Six-Year Improvement ProgTam for primary and interstate roads in Virginia. The hearing will begin with an informal open forum, with the formal meeting beginning at 6 p.m. CTB members will participate via video conference. Fund-raising workshop
Volunteers working to establish the Rappahannock NonProfit Center are hosting "Fundraising 101 ..Beyond the Bake Sale.’ on Oct. 30, from 9-11 a m. at the Town Hall in Washington. The workshop will cover the basics of budgeting, developing an annual fund-raising plan and strategic planning. Board, staff and volunteers' from local non-profits are encouraged to attend. Film program
A limited supply of tickets remain available fqr film director Ron Maxwells program, “The Civil War in Film,” to be presented Friday, Oct. 22 at the Theatre in Washington. A reception is at 6:30 p:m., followed by the progr am at 7:30 p.m. Maxwell, who directed the movies “Gettysburg” and “Gods and Generals” will show film clips and discuss how the Civil War has been presented on film. Tickets are $20 and are being sold as a fund-raiser for a project to improve the Rappahannock County courthouse grounds. Tickets are available at the Rappahannock Historical Society or call Jim Gannon at 987-9536.
Golf tournament
The RCSSA is sponsoring the annual Panther Classic golf tournament Oct, 16 at the Bowling Green golf course. Shotgun start tee time is 9 a.m. Entry fee is $75 per golfer, and the format is four person captain’s choice. Lunch will be provided. Look for sign-up sheets at businesses around the county.
