“In my F-2501 get enough grain to last me four or five days,” Wasmund said.
Wasmund said Page County was currently supplying his grain, but noted the applewood came from Rappahannock. He takes tree trimmings from local orchards.
“A few people in the county have mentioned they’d be interested in supplying us with grain,” Wasmund said, ‘Td like to make it an all-county operation.”
Wasmund said each batch of whiskey takes about 20 pounds of applewood and oak chips. He said he prepares the applewood by handusing an axe and maul, then cuts it into small pieces with a saw and throws it on a 2-foot by 6-foot grill to dry it out.
