Plant medicine

Festival postponed
Due to Hurricane Ivan’s forecasted heavy rains, the ninth annual Rappahannock Music Festival has been postponed to Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. and Sept. 26 at 12:30 p.m. The Rappahannock Music Festival features local performers and is a free community event.
Shepherds' play tryouts
Tryouts for roles in a production of the Shepherds’ Play will be held Sunday, Sept. 26 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ki Theatre. Those interested in a starring role, a minor part, or just a chorus role should come to the tryout or call Betsy Toth at 349-0632 to arrange another time. Musicians are also wanted. The production is scheduled for Dec. 3-4. Call Bette Mahoney, 675-3446.
Board meeting
An RCCA Board Meeting will be held Sunday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. at the library. Board members and the public are welcome.
Rappahannock Free Clinic
The Rappahannock Free Clinic will be open Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Rappahannock Health Department in Washington. Patient registration is 5:30-6:30 p.m. There is a shortage of nurses to assist at the clinic. Those willing to help (it is not necessary to be an RN) are urged to call'675-2525 or 347-0394.
Mixed media show
Washington’s Middle Street Gallery is hosting “Intersections” Oct. 1-31 with an opening reception on Oct. 3 from 2-6 p.m. It will include mixed media works by Richmond artist Paul Terrell. Wood, Raku fired ceramics, and fibers are the focus materials that Terrell assembles to create visual rituals. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 675-3440.
