A large crowd of almost 300 Rappahannock citizens attended the 9th Annual Rappahannock Relay for Life under a beautiful sunny sky.
Ginger Miller, Team Captain for the Reager School Team, welcomed those attending while Reverend Phillip Bailey said an opening, prayer.
Meghan Cupp, President of the Rappahannock Cancer Council, described the work of the Council and the Relay Committee. Kelsa Settle, granddaughter of Ester Settle and Georgia Gilpin, sang two solos. Daphne Depuy, Regional Vice President of the American Cancer Society thanked everyone for their participation and contributions and told of the American Cancer Society’s services. Cathy Davis read a poem and Cheyenne Pierson and Richard Lykes told of their cancer experiences and how the American Cancer Society’s programs had helped them..
Camden Littleton read the names of the 31 sponsors, all of them listed on the backs of the Relay T-shirts. Lillian Aylor and Friends then sang two spirituals.
