June 6: In-orchard meeting

Rappahannock Extension Office invites each of you to attend an In-orchard meeting scheduled to be held at James Jenkins Orchard, Woodville at 11 a.m. for a tour of the orchard, followed by a discussion of current insect and disease control recommendations, and other orctjiard management practices. Jenkins Orchard is Located from Rt. 231, turn right on to Rt. 621, go about 2 miles. The orchard is on the left by the packing shed. Call the Extension Office at 540-675-3619 to register for this program or for information. After the orchard tour you will have a bagged lunch, bring your own, drinks will be furnished by the host orchardist. You will adjourn around 1 p.m.

June 8-10: Auditions

for “Damn Yankees"

Fauquier Community Theatre will hold auditions for its production of “Damn Yankees” Friday, June 8 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 9 from 1.00 to 4:00 p.m. Call-backs, if necessary, will be held Sunday, June 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Auditions will be held at 4260 Sigler Drive, Vint Hill Farms Station, Warrenton, VA. The show is being directed by Evelyn Rice. This classic Broadway hit tells the story of Joe Boyd who sells his soul to a devilish salesman, Applegate, to ensure the Washington Senators baseball team wins the league pennant against the Yankees. Joe is transformed into a younger ‘Shoeless Joe" who becomes the Senators’ star player. Since Joe built an “escape clause” into the contract, Applegate sends his gorgeous assistant, Lola, to seduce Joe to prevent the Senators from winning. The show features classic Broadway hits like “You Gotta Have Heart, ^Whatever Lola Wants,” and “Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, MO.” Cast requirements include 3 women (ages 35-60), 5 younger women (ages 18-35), 9 older men (ages 35-60), 15 younger men (ages 16-35), 6 teenage girls (ages 14-16), 4 boys and 4 girls (ages 10-13). Those interested in auditioning will be asked to prepare a short song and be prepared to dance. A CD player and piano will be provided. It will be important to know any conflicts for rehearsal dates before casting the show. It is requested that you arrive at the beginning of the audition.
