Six Panthers are getting ready to run in Friday's regional track and field meet at Charlottesville’s Monticello High School

After some big performances at the Bull Run District meet on May 16 at Manassas Park, four boys and two girls are heading to the Group A, Region B event.

At districts, senior Irving Smith leaped to first place in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, five inches. Smith also finished second in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.

The 400-meter relay team of Smith, senior Jesse Palmer and sophomores Brooke Stokes and Daniel Rollins picked up a second-place finish. Rollins also placed fifth in the long jump and Palmer finished sixth in the 400-meter dash.

Palmer, Rollins, Smith and Stokes will be representing Rappahannock at the region meet.

On the girls’ side, freshman Carly Day finished sixth in the 100-meter dash at the district meet. She will be running the 100-meter again at the region meet and sophomore Marie Scavetti will be running the 100-meter hurdles.
