Memorial dedication
Today a crew is scheduled to erect a monument To all veterans who have honorably served their country” at the Sperryville Cemetery.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1150 took the helm on raising funds for the monument. And thanks to the generosity of Rappahannock County residents, their mission was a success.
The granite obelisk, located at the top of the cemetery’s main stainway, will stand 8 feet tall and include the seals of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.
Members erf Post 1150 will dedicate the memorial at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony at the cemetery, which is located on U.S. 522 between Sperryville and F.T. Valley Road (Highway 231).
