At canter, you add adjustability to the exercise. You go for, say. four strides between the two poles one time around, and maybe 10 strides mart time around. That is a show jumper’s tnck: it's all about adjustability and ride-ability. You need your horse on an exact stride and in an exact place. Even one inch off won't do.
