A little later this winter and early spring there will be a coordinated Clean-Up of county roadsides and stream banks. As many citizens, property owners. families. friends, churches, schools, businesses and other organizations as possible are encouraged to participate in this annual “spring cleaning* of the county by taking the time to pick up trash and debris along roads and streams in Rappahannock County.

This is a good time begin thinking about organizing groups, looking out for particularly trashy ureas (whether older sites or along a favorite road', and to consider “adopting a road" through the Virginia Department of Transportation »VDOT> “ Adopt-ARoad” program. The main clean up emphasis usually runs from mid-February through midApnl. though anyone can decide their group’s clean up time and location at any time of the year, and can contact VDOT about “adopting" a road at any time.

Participants may use their own bags,, or may get large, durable orange bags from the local Rappahannock VDOT facility, located across from the Flatwood recycling and trash
