Asked about schools, Dixon says: “I think we all need to work harder at being more efficient with the dollars we get, at $13,000 or so per child ....
“It’s a small school district, and when you compare a 900-something student population, K through 12, with populations in Fairfax County or Culpeper County or Fauquier, it’s tough to make that call. But I think there’s ways we can work with the School Board to be more efficient in operations.”
Finally, asked if anyone should think turnover on the Board of Supervisors after this election would bring about “drastic change,” Dixon says: “I don’t have any plans to do anything... drastic. Just more controls, asking more questions, and - I’ve been managing people since I was 18 — taking those years of experience, and bringing them to the Board of Supervisors.
“I truly believe that your direct elected official is a citizen’s most important elected official. And so I do take this campaign, this run, very seriously,” he says.
“It's important for people, and unfortunately a lot of people don’t really pay attention to a lot of that stuff. And, really, there’s more effect on an individual’s life by a county official than by virtually anyone else.”
