The second annual wine festival will be held at Sharp Rock Vineyards on Saturday, Oct. 2 from noon until 5 p.m. Sharp Rock is located on the Hughes River in an unspoiled valley at the foot of Old Rag Mountain and produces wine in limited lots from carefully grown and handselected grapes Owners Marilyn and David Armor invite you to enjoy bluegrass music, food and wine throughout the afternoon. Members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club gathered at the Washington fire hall on Sept 15 for their monthly meeting. After enjoying refreshments provided by hostesses Maggie Bracew ell, Celine Siira and Betty Wood, the group had a very informative program Chuck Hoysa spoke about anthracnose, the fungus disease that is killing many Dogwood trees. He used slides to show the round scars that develop on the leaves of trees that are diseased with anthracnose and pointed out other types of leaf-spot thpt result from virus infections.
