Tour
From Page A1
Sunday, Sent. 27. Admission for the tour is $5 per person, ages 16 and older. Admission is good for both days of the tour. Net proceeds from the tour will help to support the Rappahannock Farmland Preservation Program.
The tour begins at The Link Community Center at the Schoolhouse in Sperryville which will feature an “All Tilings Rappahannock” Farmers Market, also from 10 a.m. - 5 p m.
The Farmers Market will feature 24 vendors and organizations as well as a slide show of the participating agricultural and horticultural venues. Tomgoers will pick up an informative program that includes a map and listings of the 22 farmrelated venues participating on the tom. Each venue will host events unique to that venue, which will be outlined in a detailed schedule to be distributed along with the Farm Tom Program.
Lunch will be sold at several of the farming venues.
The tour will feature educational demonstrations, events and presentations including everything from rotational grazing to beekeeping, growing native plants, vineyard tours and winery tastings, apple tastings, a presentation on the Emerald Ash Borer, and many more diverse and interesting subjects far too numerous to mention.
Planning for the Rappahannock County Farm Tour began last winter, when a group of interested volunteers began to meet and design a plan that will be realized this weekend.
The tour is hosted by the Rappahannock County Office of Tourism, the Rappahannock NonProfit Center and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office of Rappahannock County. Sponsorships have been raised to help fund the costs of producing and marketing the tour. The Farm Tour Committee is pleased that many local businesses and organizations have chosen to support the tom as well as American Farmland Trust and Land Trust of Virginia
