“This was advertised,” said commissioner A1 Henry, “and normally when we have an advertisement for rezoning, we get a big outpouring of comment. We only had one or two comments tonight, and not from a person who lives next door or up the street, so I think, in terms of the village of Flint Hill, the neighbors had an opportunity ... to voice their concerns. It appears that the neighbors are okay with this rezoning. .
“I’ve always felt this house next door would be uncomfortable as a place to live for someone not connected with the restaurant,” Henry said, adding that the commerciallyzoned house would act as a kind of buffer, or transition, back to the residential area beyond it.
“I’m happy to see things happening here,” Henry said. “I think this is something good we can do towards renewal of our villages.”
The Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend the smaller tract’s rezoning be approved by the supervisors - but added a requirement that Wolk submit, before the next supervisors’ meeting Oct 5, a letter agreeing that the converted residential property would no longer share a right-of-way with its neighbors to the north but would only allow access to the house from the main commercial property.
