Hanback said the company would start with closer to 20 employees, but be limited (by septic and parking regulations) to 34. Furthermore, Hanback told the commission, its cement and related “inorganic materials” research — does not deal with hazardous or dangerous substances.
“If there was any kind of a problem where we needed fume hoods or anything like that, I would tell you,” Hanback said in response to a question at the meeting. “And there are not. Certainly not.”
Comment on the main tract’s rezoning amendment was positive, both from commissioners and two Flint Hill residents who spoke. The only negative public comment came from Flint Hill resident Jean Lillard, who said: “I fully support the amendment for the schoolhouse building and the additions ... but my concern is with the house next door. To me that would be leaking commercial into village residential."
