close of your high school careers, let me say that you are typically American. You meet everyone of the specifications just mentioned and I would like to point out a few wdrthwUHe things for you to think about as you- **go on your way.
Up to now, you have had very” little chance to the full expression to your own ideas and individuality. It is true that you have in a measure, been able to formulate some of your own ideas and carry out some of your own plans, but mostly*' your activities have been as some older person ~~har"directcth—Henceforward—your_ opportunities for self expression will increase as the years come and go. New fields of service and endeavor will open to you. Many times you will be faced with the challenge of doing things which seem impossible. Often dis. couragement and disappointments ' will appear to have joined hands in trying to break your spirit and morale. Occasionally you will be tempted to give up and say, “It can’t be done.” But remember tjwf^Yhe person who has enough indi'idjality and determination to . stay with'whatever he has set out to accomplish, until his task is completed is the one who makes a favorable and lasting impression on those with whom he is associated.
The one who never completes any task soon forfeits his right to any further chances of opportunity. “God-helps those who help themselves” is an old adage that is quite true. You will find that others are not going to be willing to do for you, that wihch you can do for yourself. You will also find that you must depend on your own resourcefulness and initiative to find ways and means of performing yoUr task satisfactorily.
