The Women’s Missionary Society of Reynold’s Memorial church met Saturday afternoon at the home of-Mrs. B. F. Miller. The program topic was “The Imisible Sword." Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr., was program chairman.

Paint on Wood:
Painting is a good way to make wood houses attractive and to freshen or change their appear* ance. •-_ ~ 7 .. “ "
The forest Service of the U. S. Dept, of Agriculture explains that paint prevents the weathering of wood hut does not preserve wood from deterioration due to decay except as it may keep the wood dry. Rotting of wood is spread by a fungus which needs moisture to grow.
The natural color of wood after it has been exposed to the weather for a fe wmonths is dark grey or often brown at high altitudes. Some people like these natural weathered shades. If so, wood buildings can remain unpainted and the cost of paint maintenance thereby saved.
Two of the oldest frame buildings in the United States have never been painted. One is in ‘ Dedham, Mass., the other in St. .Augustine, Fla. Surviving houses of the Amana Society in Iowa still have unpainted wood siding more than three quarters of a century old. }
