Are You A Supporter?

The volunteer firemen of the county are concerned about the condition of their organization end the equipment. The SperryVille men held a meeting last evening hoping to get some suggestions for ways and means of putting a backbone in the organisation.

Fire protection is of vital importance. The Soil and Conservation Service has encouraged the construction of farm ponds, primarily for fire protection* but there must be a fire engine present to pump the water through the hose and men must be there to work the fire-fighting equipment.

The men of Rappahannock are willing and ready to go to work at any hour to help their neighbor in case of fire. The only drawback the Sperryville men feel now is lack of a “backbone.” People are with them in spirit—but more is needed.
