BE THANKFUL! "B*- thankful «»«ry moraine_ when you get up that you ban something to do that day which must be done, whether you like it or not. Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will breed in you temperance and self-control, diligence and strength of will, cheerfulness and content, and a hundred virtues which the idle never know. —Charles Kingsley * * * * The Mountaineer A recent magazine carried an article ab^ut the Kentucky mountaineer and declaimed him as something rather unusual, picturesque, and antique because he still retains his love of personal freedom.
If a retention of love of freedom is a characteristic of the mountaineer, then most of tne citizens of Rappahannock are going to qualify. Like that Kentucky ■variety, described in the magazine article, the man in Rappahannock, also, considers his castle his home, and he feels that his rights of being his own boss were given to him by his sires back in 1776.
