Thomas N. Broyles
School officials of the George Washington Carver Regional High School, located in Culpeper County have announced that they have employed a director for the development of a vocational high school pro( gram to serve the surrounding counties. The regional board for Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties announced today that they have employed Thomas N. Broyles of Madison County to begin the groundwork for a program of vocational education which would be available to stu dents now attending high schools in the counties which own and operate Carver High School. The high school which serves Negro pupilB being phased out as a result Of desegregation. At the present time some three hundred-fifty students are attending the school which has a capacity of approximately seven hundred. It was constructed in 1948. Broyles, who was formerly employed by the Northern Piedmont Electric Cooperative, will begin his duties on June 15th. He was employed by the Co-op approximately ten years as assistant general manager and as .general manager since 1961. Prior to that time he was a vocational agriculture instructor at Madison County High School, He has served as training officer, supervisor, and specialist for the Veterans Administration the farm security program and during World War II for the United States Army. Broyles who is a graduate of VPI also taught a course at that
