I areas which lack other game bird species. Approximately 1100 of these were stocked on jthe southeastern slope of the ;Blue Ridge this spring.

Two other foreign strains, ithe Korean pheasant and the jchukar, are to be propagated 'at the Game Farm for the first I time in 1967. The Korean | pheasant is to be propagated jfrom an initial lot of fifteen mens and cocks. All birds ! reared the first year will be

jretained as Game Farm breed ; ing stock from which the strain can be mass produced in succeeding years. The French red-legged partridge isachukar species specially selected for suitability to Virginia environment. This species should have wide adaptability in Virginia. The farmland pheasants and the chukars are believed to be desirable strains for use by game breeders and shooting jpreserve operators’ and are being made available to these groups in limited numbers.

Amissville HD Meeting

The June meeting of Amissville Home Demonstration Club was held Monday the 5th. Mrs. Stanish Riley supervised the group as they worked on a shoe covering project. Shoes were covered with material to match or compliment an ensemble.

Mrs. James Harper was received into the group as a new member and visitors w'ere Mrs. Lillian Ford and Mrs. Louise Laughlin of the Viscose H. D. Club, Front Royal. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Douglas Perkins andMrs. Kenneth Clater. A workshop on making paper mache jewelry is scheduled for Friday, June 16 at 7;3C p. m. in the educational rooms of Amissville Baptist Church. A clinic on reupholsteringfurniture will be held by B.
